Documentary 'Sporen van 3 Oktober'

Film in the Auditorium

Every year, Leiden celebrates exuberantly that the Spanish siege ended on 3 October 1574. The battle for the city had a major impact on the surrounding countryside for years to come. After 450 years, what reminds us of the siege and relief of Leiden? What is the story behind the traces and how is the story kept alive in other ways? Journalist and archaeologist Ruurd Kok visited places in and around Leiden where important events took place. Using historical material, soil finds and interviews with experts, the story unfolds in this documentary.
