Film portrait Fer Hakkaart
In the summer of his eightieth year the painter Fer Hakkaart from Leiden was portrayed by filmmaker Marit Geluk. A film about everyday life in the Haarlemmerstraat, which Fer Hakkaart observes from his studio. About his fascination for popular cheerfulness and Bruegelian scenes. About his inability to take part in the carnival and the ability to grasp absurd reality in inspired, realistic paintings.

exhibition Fer Hakkaart - The absurd reality
This film will also be shown in the museum during the exhibition Fer Hakkaart – The absurd reality.
Please note that due to private events, the film may not be available to view at all times.
Fer Hakkaart captures Leiden people with his brush. With an amused look he observes anonymous passers-by and inhabitants of his city. In detail he shows an everyday and absurd, but sometimes oppressive reality. From August 20 through November 28, his portraits can be seen in Museum De Lakenhal. Five of them will even be exhibited for the first time: three paintings and two pastels. The works come from the collection of Museum De Lakenhal and Hakkaart's own collection.
