I'm Listening
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February from 10:30 to 16:00
Listening elevated to art
On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February, pianist Marnix van de Poll turns the tables in our Auditorium. As a pianist, Marnix is listener to museum visitors, who are his guests that afternoon.
Visual artist Dré Wapenaar designed a special Listening Pavilion, in which Marnix receives his guests. During one-on-one conversations, he listens attentively and without judgment, answering each conversation directly with a musical improvisation. Other visitors can listen in through headphones - as if you were present at a live podcast recording.
Personal conversation
A personal conversation between artist and visitor at a time when delay, connection and proximity are so important. I'm Listening is a performance in a museum context that elevates listening to art.

Experiences of other museum visitors
The improvisation was a very special gift after the openness and vulnerability of the conversation. | Thanks so much for the amazing improvisation and the experience together in the pavilion. | I feel much lighter now. | Listening to another person's conversation changes my perception of time. | The pavilion feels like a safe womb. | Because Marnix listens without judgement, I tell more.
