Performance Majalla's Cloak
Sunday 8 December at 14:00
On Sunday 8 December, the performance Majalla's Cloak will be performed. Inspired by stories of resistance to slavery, Hoost and Van Lamsweerde decided to posthumously create a freedom cloak for the enslaved boy Majalla and his peers. In this performance, several components from the presentation Majalla's Cloak in the Papegang are brought together to create this mantle for Majalla. The songs that accompany the bringing together of the cloak were written in response to conversations with Leiden descendants of enslaved people and conversations during the unraveling sessions held this summer.
