Sewing workshops at Know the Chain

If Things Grow Wrong

One of the proposed solutions to growth addiction in the exhibition If Things Grow Wrong is Discover the chain by Tinka van der Kooij. With her installation, Tinka provides insight into some of the problems in the textile industry. Because we all wear clothes that we eventually discard. But where does it go? Fortunately, you can become part of the solution for the growing textile mountain. And Tinka will help you!

Sewing workshops

On 12 March, Tinka is present in the Atelier of Museum De Lakenhal from 1 to 4 pm. During this walk-in workshop she will teach you in a short time how to upcycle your clothing. Experience with a sewing machine is not necessary, a good dose of enthusiasm is. For example, make your own scrunchie or hairband from old t-shirts or sweaters, or gather a bunch of cheerful fabrics and make a flag garland. You can make a handy shopping bag out of an old pair of pants. And for the experienced participants: learn how to make a shirt dress from different blouses, or work on an upcycle project of your choice.

Would you like to join?

You are very welcome! Come to the Atelier on March 12 to see if there is a spot available behind the sewing machine. Advance reservations are not necessary.
