Marlies van Boekel works in her studio at Haagweg 4E12. During the Kunstroute organized by Museum De Lakenhal on 21 and 22 september 2024 she will present work in her new studio at Haagweg 4 (mainly paintings) and she will concentrate on photographs of reflections in her old studio at the Stadsatelier in the Kaasmarktschool. She often works on projects using different techniques like video-takes, photography, painting or drawing. Since 2003 she has been fascinated by the movement, colors and reflections of water.
At the end of November in 2023 her book of photographs "Reflections in Leiden's Singelpark" was released by publishing house De Muze in Leiden and presented in Museum De Lakenhal to councillor Ashley North. The photobook contains 100 photos of reflections of the Singelpark and texts of 40 inhabitants who have a connection with the park. A selection of the photographs can be seen on www.reflectionsingelparkleiden.nl. In the Kunstroute weekend the photobook will be for sale for 20 euros in stead of 25 euros.
